Finally , we discover Britains are committed europeans after all

Honestly, its all a plot.

We just discovered this footage of someone who look suspiciously like the leader on the UK Independence Party, talking about European health and safety in the workplace, and BEHOLD IT MUST BE TRUE:

Clearly a committed European, Nigel FROMAGE received thunderous applause after extolling the virtues of EU directives on smoking and drinking in the workplace.

Mr Fromage, Britain, and Europe, are proud of you
Little known by the general public, British delegates have been trying for years to get the hang of signing up to legislation without actually believing a word of it, or having any intention of enforcing it, but on this momentous day, they "came out of the closet" as it were, and proved they had finally got the hang of how to legislate like true europeans...

Mangler Perkle led the plaudits, while clipping a Romeo y Julieta, "We hoped for this day for some time, it has been a long apprenticeship...  Now it has come we all must drink a toast!"

Well done, Mr Fromage, that's what I say.  Now perhaps we can all cut the crap about the EU and just get on with pretending everyone is a happy family.

Ed Balls and the wannabes

I don't know quite what it is, but Ed Balls just doesn't do it for me.

He says the right things - after all it's hard not to hit a big motionless target like a Tory dough mountain - but its so clearly rhetoric when real substance is needed. And by substance I mean a sense of outrage or dismay that might have scared Andrew Marr into pressing the panic button for security. That MIGHT have made me think it mattered.

I just can't get past the political career ladder I see in the background every time he is talking.

He was on BBC's Andrew Marr show this morning, and the ladder was extending ever upward with each rung rattling and creaking under the strain. Even when his host gave him the opportunity to back out from posturing and comment on Michael Heseltine's initiatives constructively he didn't take the opportunity... or put another way he took the bait, and swung in both barrels of his potato gun popping... silly billy, as one of his predecessors might have said.

It's not encouraging when they boys with the conch are described (admirably) by one of their own party as rich toffs who don't know the price of milk, but the opposition can't do better than hoisting smug catapults of fresh dung across the proverbial divide.

Thank God I am an agnostic :-D, especially when it comes to political parties.

I think you ballsed it up, Ed...

...Whatever next...

So it's not so easy to find jobs then?

Watching the news today, I almost let a Douglas Hogg moment slip my observation (you know, the Tory minister who force fed his daughter beef burgers on camera in the middle of the Mad Cow episode of way-back-then).
The item was about the government work program to find jobs for people, which they admitted hadn't done as well as they had hoped, as the recession has ambushed them.
Anyway, included was a pastiche where 2 rescued souls were prepped camera-side to evangelise how they had been coached and built up to find themselves jobs, so were eternally grateful...
as postal workers...
... in November/December...
Hmmm...
And there beamed Tory minister (what's the point of naming them these days?) cooing over his foundlings...
You can't make it up...

Is The Tide Turning?

As far as politics go, it seems there will be an eternal waxing and waning between the 2 camps of the Westmonster Parliament. It isn't Dave vs Ed though, as it might have been Neil vs Maggie, or Harold vs Ted, the tide is weak, the power of the moon has diminished. These days it seems the UK has upped anchor and found itself in the Mediterranean, so to speak.

So when we hear the reporters talk of 'a wonderful speech', how sceptical we should be. I didn't find Ed Milliband's sermon particularly powerful, but one reporter did say polished. I'll paddle to that.

Yet I can't help thinking of some things that did germinate under Labour, can't help comparing them to the woolly bumblings of pleb sayers (did he or didn't he)  and apologists, and can't help feeling a little prepared to give the shadow 'cheerleaders' (thank you Jeremy Paxman) a round of applause - on balance I think they have it.

The tide maybe has turned, weak though it is.

Apparently these queues are the fault f Ryan Air passengers

That is according to Manchester Airport Security Staff.

Probably because I arrived for my Ryan Air Flight only 75 minutes before the flight...

YouTube Video

Quick tip: if you encounter queues like these and the security tell you they will be calling out flights, just wait at the back and you will be ok, they are lying. Go to the check in desk and get them to stamp you in for the Fast Lane, or else you will miss your flight.

This time apparently the crises were down to the Man Utd game...

BBC News and the Propaganda Machine

When the BBC preaches about democracy in China, complain to trading standards.
When a dialogue is so obviously being interpreted to provide a propagandist narrative, switch it off. They are advertising their license fee right now, why should we pay for politically biased cultural bigotry?

Why am I saying this now? I just saw their latest bullshit frenzy over the Chinese premier's speech, where he apparently called for leadership selection reform. If a premier can make a statement such as this, doesn't that rather mean debate is not so stifled? Why do the BBC report it as if a party zombie has broken ranks and challenged the fabric of a fragile totalitarian system. Lets remind ourselves this is one of the most powerful economic forces on the world right now, where consumer sales are soaring for luxury western goods, and from where our economy has been only too happy to receive cheap consumer goods bonanzas.

Silly, infantile, dreary propagandist reporting Ike this just fucks me off. What kind of leadership China has isn't the point, spoonfed crap from BBC journo-shitgobs is. They should know better.

Too Much Junk Mail

I truly got fed up of having un-recyclable rubbish stuffed through the door to the house, selling bad food from 'establishments' that are one on top of the other, so I created a map to pinpoint all the places that get them printed to promote themselves:

Fast Food Door stuffers - Google Maps

Ultimately, I would like the map to go crazy with contributions - showing just how much of this rubbish is produced, and giving an un-scientific pimple - shot of how much bad quality food is being peddled at us.

Obesity in this country is a growing problem, and I have no doubt these are contributors...

Not to mention that not only is the food unhealthy, but usually its mode of production is unhealthy, and the packaging is low grade.

Any further contributions accepted!

To blog or not to blog?

Since iOS5 the blog press software er "app" has been preventing fly posting....

This was a test to see if it is fixed since the iOS5.0.1 release...

It wasn't, but that was OK as there was no reason why it should.

BUT HANG ON A MINUTE...
... Didn't I change my google password since my last post because my email account was browsed without authorization?

The way we live now: our lives have so many interdependencies since the net made us connection junkies...

A Christmas Tale

One day in a town not far from anywhere, there was a huge motor traffic accident involving legions of drivers all over the place.

It was terrible because no-one got anything done that day, and all sorts of fights broke out. Bruised egos and fragile marriages were shattered all over the place.

This was especially bad news, because the town already had problems with businesses going under, taxes not being collected, and investment drying up because outside investors (no-one inside had so much as 0.5 escudos left) were not even gossiping about not going there any more, but just privately waiting for the inevitable, when they could come in and plunder what little was left, as it was owed them anyway...

Everyone ended up in court, and after police investigations everyone was put on the very naughty list and also ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings because it turned out they were all either drunk, stoned, or on medication that prohibited their use of a vehicle.

Anyway the first few meetings were total chaos (which was what the judge and his good friend a psychotherapist expected), and at the end of each meet every one was reminded that their future was at stake, and as none of them could afford a drink anymore after the hefty fine and the declining economic circumstances, they eventually believed it and realised the only way forward for their selfish selves was to come clean and start talking to each other.

Then after 4 months something happened
  • they all realised they weren't driving to their destinations any more but feeding their habit to drive and isolating themselves from the world around them
  • the city planner suddenly realised there was no public transport, no traffic lights, not even any stop signs - everyone had just been 'getting on with it'
  • a significant percentage realised their 40km journey to work around the routes that had the least traffic that they had discovered over the years, handed down from generation to generation incorporating small delicatessens, butchers and grocery stores back in the day, could easily be replaced by a 10 minute walk through a shortcut, and that most of the reasons for the circuit had disappeared.
So far about 6 more months they bitched at each other for ruining each others lives.

One day, when they were all just as hopeless and depressed as ever, and no nearer being released from their commitment to attend, the judge and therapist sensed this was the vulnerable moment, and gave an ultimatum:

"Do you want and end to this?"
"Yes" - it was the first time they had sung in harmony.  One or two of them put a gun to their own heads, but it was for show only, no bullets.  No one was fooled.
"Do you accept you haven't a clue how?"  Stony silence, then uproar.
Fine, the two thought to themselves.  This lot are on the path to recovery in spite of themselves.

The 2 questions were repeated again and again over the next 3 months, and each time the final answer was indignation, but less each time, mostly because some of the clever ones had realised it wasn't going to get them out of the door.
Finally the pair knew the moment had come.

Over the months, even though the selfish townsfolk had been nagging and bitching each other as the source of their woes, they had been dropping clues as to what their lives should have been about, until a skeleton picture existed that could be a start.

Finally, the therapist was able to amaze each of them with an uncannily accurate description of a simple fact that would make something in their life better, and that was all the seed needed to begin a co-operation, but not without the vigilance of the therapist and the judge, who like before knew when each moment could be turned to a new lesson, and also knew that the townsfolk would have to be taught to change by subtly doing it until over a long time it became habit, because they were all too wrapped up in themselves at first to do it by choice.

You see, in a former life the therapist had been a big spiritualist fake, and knew well how to read half truths and obscurities, but that was the past, and s/he was now dedicated to using their extraordinary super powers of human observation for good.
And the judge had seen it all before.
Both of them knew the number of false peaks that would appear when folks thought they finally had the exit in their sites and would claim they were healed.

A point came when the judge and therapist agreed between themselves that they had gone as far as they could, and they needed to be set free from there, but far from declaring the exorcism complete, they just slipped out the back door, and were seen no more.

Strangely though no-one noticed and the discussion continued - someone baked, someone cooked, someone brewed beer, and the meetings were by now big social events, problem solving groups, and other stuff.

Eventually the town renounced driving as a cardinal sin except when racing, playing chicken, or for finding some cheap thrill and near death experience.  This was fully approved by all spiritual leaders.
A system of public transport, cycle routes, and optimised working hours and practises was put in place so everyone got to where they were going and never bumped into each other.
A stunning race circuit and freeway were built so people could have high octane fun when they wanted it, and get to places they really couldn't reach conveniently by public transport with as much speed and fun as they could handle.
The food suddenly became fresh because the delivery companies could arrive on time finally, so everyone got healthy. And the space revealed by the disappeared traffic jams became organic farms, sports grounds, and lovers' haunts.

And then investors came back, but they couldn't get in the door until they had undergone a thorough examination by the newly appointed Quality Committee from the townsfolk, who finally understood what they needed, how they relied on each other, and would be damned if anyone barged in, didn't come up to scratch, and screwed up their Brave New World.

Rantenstein Unbound, or "Thank You, Alpesh"?

Alpesh Patel guested on the newspaper review this morning on BBC World Service before BBC1 kicked back into life with BBC breakfast....

Simple core message from Alpesh - things ain't changed much in the Middle East since Lwrence of Arabia.

Using democracy and the lack of it as the club with which to beat the papers into submission, he repeatedly attacked the political systems around the world which prefer to let the West act in their own back yard rather than stand up themselves, and further argued that fighting over oil supplies isn't such a bad thing, as international trade and security go hand in hand.

At least that's what I think he said...

The BBC presenters seemed taken aback, but I actually have to be in Alpesh's camp on this one.

Whether I agree with him or not his opinion was clear and unequivocal, and refreshing because of that.

Now, bring on tonight's Keiser Report on Russian Today...

Got a Pension? Spend it before you are 40

So now the government are thinking of letting people have access to their pensions by the time they are in their mid-30's.

So we are now dismantling the concept of pensions all together.

So how does his make sense?

Well, it seems independent bodies reckon its nice people can have access to their money that they put away.

Doesn't this expose fundamental flaws in the UK pension system, and make you wonder just why this lateral option is being considered.

I imagine this now means your pension earnings can be spent and provide more tax way ahead of schedule.

Now, is this private pensions only - what about the government pension scheme we are all entitled to: yes the one that is already woefully short of money...

I wonder if this is the start of the abolition of that, which we have all already contributed billions of pounds towards.

Reminds me of the Millenium Dome, built by the tax payer, left to rot by the government until they could sell it for what £5, or £1, I forget, and now making large profits, while the government has agreed the taxpayer should continue to pay for the upkeep....

Wonder when the banks are going to pay us all back with interest?

So now the pundits are talking more shit

Well,
The 2 leaders got together and welcomed the country to the new alliance.

And what did the pundits do?
Well, the most of them who were on the spot gave their 'expert' view - "trouble ahead, DC was excited and welcoming, while NC was reserved, severe and guarded".  then they got the body langoes in, who tried to cook up some more conspiracy sauce by reading NC as subliminally en garde.
I can't believe journalists can be so crap at their job.

Why not read it another way...
The Liberal Democrats are the minority partner, with voters who really didn't want to vote for conservative policies (so we are told by the same journoes I don't trust, but let's use their own novella to break down their latest theory).  So for public's sake, would it make sense for their leader to appear to be guarding the interests of those who aren't tory sympathisers?  Yes?  Remember, we have the party members and organisation who have all approved the move.

The Conservatives for their part really need the majority to form a government, and also have their own party grumblers who would rather see Francis Urquhart wearing the crown than David Cameron, so shouldn't it make sense that a successful coalition in government with a (Centre Left??) party would strengthen reform of the tories away from the peasant, er pheasant, baggers who regard cemeteries as prime real estate giveaways to business allies, and arms deals as inheritance for their children?
And let's not forget that nice excited David does have scary Michael Howard back in cabinet.

Its funny, no matter how often the journoes call it wrong, they still want to be tabloid king makers and keep writing the script until finally they make us believe their storyline.  Could it really have ben the same journalists 'ramping up' bigot-gate, who then Mills and Booned Gordon Brown's farewell scene as he resigned?

I can't help feeling that journalism in this country is more interested in keeping us all badly informed and stupid, than anything else.

When is a bigot a baddie-boo? When a journo is a piggie-wig

Gordon Goofed!! And called a much to say local lady a bigot in private, thinking the microphone was off.

The media have danced on this like its the bacchanale of lesbos with no tomorrow in the summer of 1968 after an lsd/viagra cocktail accidentally got into all the water, er no, these are journoes, alcohol supply...

COME ON!! Let's stop being patronised.

If you listen to the poor man, he wasn't rabid, he didn't call the woman a 'northern bitch', or witch for that matter, or even a bastard like John Major did, he called her a bigot.

And what is a bigot?  Someone with entrenched prejudiced ideas that won't be moved by reason, nothing worse.
Is this bad language to use? No.
Was it complementary? No.
Was he right? I don't know, I don't think so judging by what I heard.
Was it said in private? Yes.
Was it said by someone under pressure of a tight schedule, judging the encounter a mistake, and putting it in the light of it should never have happened, when he is fighting for his job, and his beliefs, and disagreed with the person? Yes.
Is it understandable, have we ever done anything like that?  don't you fucking lie and say no, because then I know you will have done worse.

The journoes with their cynical mockery and band wagon jumping king making pride most certainly will have done much worse.

I am not defending Labour, or joining sides, or being contrary.  I just think the baying crowd need to pipe down and stop their hypocrisy.

Any way, now, I beleive the good lady socialist is about to make a lot of money from the gaffe, so maybe thanks are in order...

The News of the World and Satan

Oh dear!
Was that headline sensational?
No, then maybe I was 300 years too late...

... but if that kind of attitude is all in the past and from a bygone age of superstition and manipulation of the many by the few, then why is News of the World playing the Satan game today?

I don't mean demonising an 'overpaid, oversexed, not that nice' professional football player, which I guess in itself has something of the Spanish inquisition about it.

I do mean why they and the rest of their brethren press engage in destructive news foraging to find ways of exposing private instances of misdemeanour and raising the issue to the level of a national trial by opinion.

Do I care what John Terry has been up to? No, but...

Actually, yes I do, because it is such a farcical affair of no consequence, so what is the reason for it being the natio-anal headline? Aren't we being encouraged to believe in nothing and one the 1 second hail a group of highly paid individuals as national heroes, just so we can be told they are evildoers and hedonists the next? If it is low rent media fodder, why aren't the big natioanl dailies and news sources ridiculing the whole madness?

The BBC and ITV, and all media outlets have played their part in this... Please if you read this comment on what national news media has graced themselves by leaving this alone.

Remember Why MPs are Wankers?

Well, now that is all done, lets consider just whether the draughty building was a metaphor for the general financial management of Westminster Affairs, MPs' expenses, and the vulnerability of public money to political use. I have nmothing more to say on that, as it all spoke for itself.

These people ended abusing a system without even realising they were doing it - that's how far the nations policy barons are without guide or proper rule.

Champagne? Ha! How Paltry!

How naive I was to rib Red Ken for having a claret red nose for a bit of comic relief!!!

Now we know where the corks are really popping, should we just stand indignant and vote in another set of scheme mongering profiteers?

Do you remember the house of Commons actually tried to muzzle the FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT just a few months ago explicitly for MPs expenses? No? Well check out this link:
Freedom of Information Order 2009-Jan-15, and this blogger's call to resistance against the amendment to the Freedom of Information Act:
Lobby against Freedom of Information Order.

What is going on with the Mother of All Parliaments? Why is it acting like the Bawdy House of All Whores?

New Labour look to me like the Vanguard of the Oldest Profession? what about the Tories? We always knew the Tories were good for a fast buck, a sex scandal, and some good old fashioned elitism. Back to the good old days of merchant classes controlling royals. After all, didn't the first chavs arrive in 1066?

When was the last time there was real, radical reform? Seems to me like we are in real need of it now.

Champagne Socialist or Claret Socialist?

More like now we REALLY KNOW why he was called RED KEN!! Click here in case you didn't already know.

HAHAHA - It just gets sillier and sillier
